What is Catholic Social Teaching?

Catholic Social Teaching (CST) is rooted in Scripture, formed by the wisdom of Church leaders, and influenced by our faith. It is our moral compass, guiding us on how to live out our faith in the world. You could say that Catholic Social Teaching is like a set of treasures of the church, needing to be unlocked, discovered, embraced and lived out!

Our journey to unlocking Catholic Social Teaching at St Mary's...

In order to help children understand more about Catholic Social Teaching and how we can use these principles in our own lives, we decided to launch our very own set of treasures, linked to Catholic Social Teaching.

The Chaplaincy Council were asked to design our own set of Catholic Social Teaching keys which the children can ‘unlock’ and apply in their own lives. We enlisted the help of Mrs Fernandes our Chaplain to bring the keys to life!

Each class has a set of ’keys’ which are displayed and the children are encouraged to use these keys to support their discussions and questions around the principles of Catholic Social Teaching.

Prayer and Liturgy sessions to officially launch the Catholic Social Teaching keys were planned and delivered by the Chaplaincy Council to the whole school.

What are our 7 keys to unlocking Catholic Social Teaching at St Mary's?
